Translated Japanese Stories about Growing Up – Chinese Picture Books

My 2 children (5-year-old daughter, 2-year-old son) both love this series of 3 Chinese pictures books from the author 佐古百美 (publisher 北京科学技术出版社).  The 3 stories about growing up was originally written in Japanese and translated to simplified Chinese.  They are humorous and very relatable for young children.

佐古百美 Books for Children

Since we are non-native Chinese speakers, we rely on books with realistic pictures to decode and remember new Chinese words.  It’s a wonderful way to learn Chinese vocabulary about everyday life.

My 5-year-old can read most words in these books on her own, so it’s a great series for reading practice and learning relevant Chinese characters after completing 四五快读.  She listens to the stories on Ximalaya which helps her identify unfamiliar words while reading.
