Translated from Japanese, Friends on the Farm 我的后面是谁呢: 原野上的伙伴们 is an adorable book series that teaches Chinese location words! The set of 5 Chinese books are also perfect for kids to learn common animal names.
Friends on the Farm 我的后面是谁呢: 原野上的伙伴们 Book Review
This series is perfect for preschoolers and toddlers and also parents who are just starting to learn Chinese!
Learn Chinese location words
The simple, repetitive text gives plenty of practice for common, everyday sentences such as:
长颈鹿，长颈鹿，你的下面是谁呢？ Chángjǐnglù, chángjǐnglù, nǐ de xiàmiàn shì shéi ne? (Giraffe, giraffe, who’s under you?)
小乌龟，小乌龟，你的后面是谁呢？ Xiǎo wūguī, xiǎo wūguī, nǐ de hòumiàn shì shéi ne? (Little turtle, little turtle, who’s behind you?)
前面 (Qiánmiàn / in front of) and 上面 (shàngmiàn / above) are also reviewed in this book.
These Chinese words are easily visible on plain white background with only 1-2 short sentences per page. There is no Hanyu Pinyin or English.
Level of the Friends on the Farm 我的后面是谁呢: 原野上的伙伴们 series
For those who are wondering about reading level, my toddler could read these books after he learned to read ~150 Chinese characters. He loves animals, and he gained a lot of confidence when he realized he could read most Chinese characters without any help!
Illustrations support learning Chinese location words
The accompanying illustrations are colorful and cute and match the animal positions in air, land, and water. At the end of each book, all animals are pictured together.
Mandarin audio narration
For those who cannot read Chinese fluently, good news!
Friends on the Farm 我的后面是谁呢: 原野上的伙伴们 is compatible with Luka Reading Robot which narrates each book in Mandarin Chinese.
