Since my children were babies, I have been singing 小星星 (Xiǎo xīng xīng / Twinkle Twinkle Little Star) every night! This was one of the first Chinese songs that we learned when starting our Chinese language journey. Routine is so important for young children, and I always sing the song in Chinese at bedtime to help them ease into sleep. Because my daughter knows the song so well, I knew she would be motivated to read it in Chinese.
When my daughter was 3-and-a-half, I set up an invitation-to-learn Twinkle Twinkle in Chinese with a constellation sticker activity! In addition to providing great reading practice and improving fine motor precision, it’s a fun way to create art! I also typed the lyrics in large font for further reading practice, and you can find the printable Chinese lyrics at the end of this post.

小星星 (Xiǎo xīng xīng / Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star) Chinese Lyrics
I typed up the lyrics for 小星星 (Xiǎo xīng xīng / Twinkle Twinkle Little Star) in English, Chinese, and Pinyin for my daughter. We keep all song lyrics in a binder for convenience, and you can see an example of it in my review of Stream of Praise Chinese Christian music. Feel free to download the pdf files in both Chinese scripts:
- 小星星 (Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star) Simplified Chinese Lyrics with Pinyin and English
- 小星星 (Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star) Traditional Chinese Lyrics with Pinyin and English
Note: I included an English translation of the Chinese lyrics since the Chinese words are a bit different from the original English version that you are familiar with!
