Review of 儿歌 Chinese music CD nursery rhyme books

Each book contains 8 Chinese nursery rhymes with a music CD. Each CD has 16 tracks: Chinese nursery rhyme is followed by a track with only the background music.

The vocabulary is relevant to everyday conversation. Examples include animal actions (dog and cat chasing and running around) and daily self-care habits (teeth brushing, going to bed).

Good news: these Chinese music books are available in both simplified and traditional Chinese!

You’ll see in the photos below that the text is playful, generally with 1-3 lines of Chinese characters appearing as short waves on each page. Illustrations are adorable with a mix of children and animals.

Listening to Chinese nursery rhymes independently

Although I previously phased out all music CDs in favorite of digital MP3 files, I now am a fan of “old-fashioned” CDs for my young children!

I love that they can use CD players independently to choose which songs they want to sing and dance along to!

By giving my children the autonomy to choose music, they are more likely to enjoy learning, even though Chinese is a minority language in our community.
