Best Chinese Children’s Bibles, Bible Stories, and Devotions Books
In contrast to English, children’s Bibles in Chinese are hard to find. Our favorite English Bibles inspired our list of Chinese recommendations.
Bible translations are important so more people can read and learn about Jesus, hope, and salvation. I hope you can find Chinese Bibles for your child’s daily routine through this list.

Chinese Bibles for Kids
Here are the best Chinese children’s Bibles and devotional books for various reading levels. For reference, 简体中文 (jiǎntǐ zhōngwén) means Simplified Chinese, and 繁體中文 (fántǐ zhōngwén) means Traditional Chinese.
Bilingual Chinese Bible for Toddlers 小淘气圣经 / 小淘氣聖經
If you’re a parent or caregiver learning to read Chinese, this is a great beginner Bible with only two sentences per page.
Because of the short stories and bright illustrations, it’s also a great Bible for babies and toddlers. Both simplified and traditional Chinese editions are bilingual with English translations. Neither version has Pinyin or Zhuyin.
Chinese Beginner’s Bible for Kids 小孩孑圣经
The Beginner’s Bible by Zonderkidz is near and dear to our hearts. We’ve been reading the English version since my daughter was a baby. The pages are now wrinkled; we’ve repaired many rips over the years!
In recent years, we’ve enjoyed the bilingual simplified Chinese with the English edition of the Beginner’s Bible.
If you’re debating between these two children’s Bibles, here are photos comparing the Bible for Toddlers (bottom) to The Beginner’s Bible (top). Note how the wording varies in describing sinners versus Noah.
As shown in the comparison photos in the prior section, the bilingual Beginner’s Bible is slightly more wordy and advanced than the Candle Bible for Toddlers. This should be sufficient if you’re looking for only one Chinese children’s Bible for the early years.

My First Handy Bible: Timeless Bible Stories for Toddlers 小可愛聖經
Although we don’t have personal experience with this particular Bible, several Chalk Academy readers recommended it for the traditional Chinese characters and Zhuyin.
With 33 Bible stories summarized in kid-friendly paragraphs and illustrations, this would be a great option for the preschool age.
Chinese Jesus Storybook Bible 耶稣故事圣经 / 故事聖經
Written by Sally Lloyd Jones, Jesus Storybook Bible has been translated into over 50 languages! This wonderful Bible stays close to theology and is geared for elementary and middle school kids.
The author’s website also offers activities to supplement the Jesus Storybook Bible.
We bought the English and traditional Chinese (TC) Bibles years ago, though the latter is too challenging for us to read. It does not have Pinyin or Zhuyin.
Recently, Sonia Hsia, the translator of the simplified Chinese version, generously gifted us the Chinese Jesus Storybook Bible with Pinyin. We are incredibly grateful for this edition as the Pinyin helps us read the Chinese characters.
Chinese Bible Stories App for Kids
YouVersion has a free Bible App for Kids that’s been translated into over 60 languages, including Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese. As for written text, you can choose between simplified or traditional Chinese characters.
The app allows children to download and navigate the Chinese Bible stories independently. Each Bible story concludes with a simple, multiple-choice question to assess comprehension.
The animated illustrations are similar to the Chinese Beginner’s Bible cartoons. Though the pictures have special effects, they were very distracting when my children were younger and lacked impulse control.
The Chinese Bible app also offers games, but in our humble opinion, they do not serve the purpose of teaching children scripture.
Voice of Salvation 救恩之聲
Voice of Salvation 救恩之聲 is a Taiwanese Christian radio station geared towards elementary school-aged kids.
They have hundreds of audio bible stories and worship songs in conversational Mandarin Chinese, which makes it easier for children to understand.
As a parent learning about God and the Chinese language with my children, these bible stories are helpful for me, too.
Chinese devotions book for kids 小宝宝日日学 / 小寶寶日日學
This is a wonderful daily devotional book for children, and each page includes a Chinese Bible verse, a bilingual vignette, and a bilingual prayer.
My kids adore the cute illustrations which feature cute kids and animals. Meanwhile, I appreciate the diversity of the children because God loves all people!
小宝宝日日学 / 小寶寶日日學 is available in simplified Chinese (SC) and traditional Chinese (TC).

(A) What language does your family speak/read? Chinese (traditional)
(B) What Bibles and/or devotion books are you thinking about getting for your kids? Traditional Chinese bibles/devotions with authentic biblical truth. Maybe story books by Heavenly Melody (睡夢鄉).
A) I’m teaching my kids Mandarin as best as I can right now, being an ABC, so English and Chinese is currently our home language. (2) My daughter is 4- years old and most religious programs do not start for us until she’s in Kindergarten, so any Bible (in English or Chinese) would be great for my kids. We have read short prayers in English and would love to continue to expose my kids to more at home. And thank you for the blog and information! We learned a lot and it was a great guidance.
